Let me add one more thing...
The SEND line needs to be in front of every BACKUP command. I have 3
backup commands (data blocks, archive logs, control file) and the
proper schedule needs to be set for each segment of the RMAN script.

Or is it only necessary if you are using VSP?

When adding a Linux
client, what is the difference between the INTEL RedHat 2.4 client HW/OS type
and the LINUX RedHat 2.4 HW/OS type?
I just noticed that
a Linux client was setup with the Linux hardware when it really has Intel. Will
it make a difference during a restore, because backups
We currently have
VSP disabled through all of our environments because of it's ability to fill up
a drive and crash a server.
For those out there
using 6.0, are you using VSP? Have the previous problems been fixed? Does it
perform as expected? Anything to look out for?
Thanks,
Rusty
The
"Intel" designation is about to be deprecated so you'll be fine sticking with
the "Linux" type.
I've
tried to find where I just read this on Veritas' site but can't find the
original note. I do remember running a sweep on our Linux clients to see
if we had any with the "Intel"
Anyone played with getting the 5.1 client to run on a linux 2.6 kernel?
Just trying the install, and got the first error from bpcd when I tried
to connect. It needs libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 - the resolution for this
one is in the knowledgebase.
Just wondering if anyone had a checklist or
Yes , we have configured SAN media server on Redhat 4 (2.6 kernel ) .It
requires the libraries that u mentioned and some other packages which
are on second Redhat installation CDs.

I would hope there is some parity or other ecc process that would save
your image if one of these many cheap disks failed.

I do not know if this applies to our environment, but I'm passing it along as
FYI.
The NetBackup 6.0 Release Impact Bulletin (http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/278132.htm) says :---The duplicate definition of a Linux client is no longer being created.
VERITAS has been providing a duplicate definition for Linux clients. Thisallowed the user to define a client as INTEL/Red
