When the services are up
and you start a job, what is the output of bpps command?
There must be an entry
for the job. If there is one, the wait. Wait a lot.
Do you have any media
servers configured?

If I was you, I would install new media server and then
- use bpmedia -movedb -m media_id -newserver hostname [-oldserver

on media associated to old media server to reflect new media server
- use bpimage -newserver name [-oldserver name] [-id id]

Hi,
Does anyone know if I canuse an ID (with limited rights) to run Netware backups? If so, what rights do I need? Currently I am using the ADMIN ID. -- DLew97

I have 2 LTO drives in my system but a backup just fails to mount a tape
in the first drive and just downs it. I have no idea why and cant see in

Hello Dave,
Is the drive SCSI connected correctly? Also terminated at the end of the
chain.
Funny, just sorted out an identical problem - start a job runs, attempts to
load in drive 1, downs the drive, mounts in drive 2.
My problem was the SCSI Cable BETWEEN the drives. Absolutely nothing wrong
Using the device control panel can you mount a tape? (aka, can we prove
the hardware works?) If so, how about trying to move tapes with
robtest? I've had similar issues with our older libraries and I can't
think of a single instance where it wasn't related to hardware failure.

If I make an exclude list entry like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\*\Local Settings\Temp\*
Will that exclude \Local Settings\Temp\* from every folder in C:\Documents
and Settings\ ?
If not, what would be the best way to do that?

You can download the NBU for SQL
user's guide form support.veritas com, there you have this informations. To do
the scripts using the NBU GUII usea database admin, now to do a
backup I start the NBU client services using a user that is a SQL backup
administrator.

We're testinga Linux media server now to try and resolve some NDMP issues. I have the Media server set up, talking to my Master, fiber connectivity to a tape drive (properly zoned), but I can't find drivers. I've contacted ADIC support, but they've been no help. I've found IBM drivers (library

Hi Biju
My own advice would be to check the manuals for the
pre-requirements. not too sure why you are getting problems on windows 2003
though.
You should also be able to download the PDF manuals on the
Symantec Web Site.

Jason,
We have downloaded ibm tape drivers for hp/ux from the
url:

For solaris 9 we are using the sun drivers for ibm LTO3
tape drives with qlogic cards.

What advantages do you see in 6.x over 5.x? What things are better and easier etc. I need to get some points to be used for planning a 6.0 upgrade.

/proc/scsi/scsi only sees the local SCSI bus.
We're running RHEL3, kernel 2.4.21-40.EL with Qlogic 2300 driver

Zones look right, but not sure why drive isn't seen. The tape drive is
a straight FC connect - no backplane in the ADIC (Scalar i2K). The

Veritas are happy for us to use HP drivers but it just looks like they have

Forgive me if I am wrong, but doesnt 5.x offer the
same functionaility of failed backups (retry!)
Because that is what I am seeing here, in a 5.1 environment..
As long as the window is open, the backups re-try until the threshold hits the
limit or the backup completes.
