Yes it's possible.
For the advanced client, it's only depend on the license right?
If you don't have the advanced client license, the it becomes a usual/normal
client.

Yeah, I know having 50+ media servers is riskybut there really is no
other way to properly do it.
I'm beginning to think it isn't netbackup. My /usr/openv directory is
mounted via a direct connect fibre on a Sun 9990 raid. I'm running

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all of the responses, they pretty much confirm what I
thought.
I think we may just leave a scaled down Legato system in place which can
be shut down when the last tape expires in seven years.

Hi, we've been getting the same problem with 5.1 MP6. See

My colleague has been working on this, it looks like with the

Possibly unclosed/not enough tcp connections, we have had instances
where we have had to increase the number of tcp connections allowed on
unix master/media servers , and sometimes to reduce the time tcp
connections on windows media servers stay in a CLOSE_WAIT state.
Saying that,

Thanks. Tried excluding *.wci and they are still behaving strangely. I
haven't had this message as yet but they seem to get to different
Percentages each time and then just grind to a halt.
On the Gui i cant see how to disable open file backup either for the
client properties. There is a VSP item
This question is asked hundreds of times a month :)
Is there a URL showing people how to do this?
You goto the master servier proerties, add the client and then uncheck
open file backups.

Exactly the symptoms we were getting.
GUI -- master properties -- Client Attributes -- Windows Open File

This is true for Windows but not Unix or Linux clients.
For Unix hosts, I don’t know how you would do a local installation – I’ve done
50+ media servers should not be that risky with 6.0 - one of the driving
reasons behind the 6.0 release was for scalability, especially with a large
number of media servers.
Are the pbx processes all running properly? If they weren't, then I could
picture the symptoms you're seeing with
Bit of a strange one now
*.wci entered into exclude list
open file backups disabled for the clients in question.
Ran test backup and still get
bpbrm from client client: WRN - Content Indexing Server: unable to pause
catalog: Web (some files may not get backed up)
Then the job slows, but
Thanks to make the information clear Ed.. ;)

Is it similar to the Oracle DB client add-on? i.e. does it have some sort of

Curtis is right, but there's another bit: from your description it sounds like
you are trying to backup a mapped drive letter on the Media server. That
won't work well- for one thing you need to be logged in all the time. Point
