Master server running on 5.0 is now not used but is up and has valid
images, and the media servers connected to the master servers are not up.
How can i change the ownership of the media's from the media server to the
master server, please suggest.

If i have a full backup using a weekly_full tape pool and say run it on
a Saturday.
Then have cumulative incremental running in the week using a daily_inc
pool on Sunday - Saturday (obviously the full will run on the Saturday
as its the schedule seen

You have to upgrade to 5.0 MP4 or later first in order to upgrade to 6.x.
Symantec recommends the latest MP available for whatever 5.x version you
upgrade to. Either way, the upgrade to 5.x will keep the policies in tact,

Any Solaris server will work. All you care about is that the client type
matches so that the master bundles up the right pieces and ships it off to
the target's /tmp directory.

thingies windows needs. A Full backup and restore of the system/boot drive
and a catalog recover is probably going to be my safest bet. Just let
NetBackup do what it's supposed to do.

A simple way that I can think of is to pretend to do an install to a remote
Solaris server (perhaps your admin server). Let it copy the tree over to
the target but don't install it there. tar up the tree from /tmp and then
you can put that on your central admin server for subsequent deployment.

You can search for the relevant backup image by hostname date, or
whatever other parameters you want, under catalog in the GUI.
Select copy 2 under copies menu item, do a search, and when you find
the approriate image, right click on it and select set primary image.

The basic configuration is a two node (V445) Solaris 10 cluster using
Storage Foundation Standard HA 5.0. The application is NetBackup 6.5
(Master Server).
You can only restore from the primary copy.
You will have to promote Pool B tape to primary to restore from it. Or you
can expire Pool A tape.

clients from a central admin server (not a NetBackup server). This was
because we have firewalls between the servers and clients, can't use
ftp, can't ssh between the master and clients, etc. So our script :

It came in with v7.2 of Ontap, IIRC. We're good on that (finally!).
