Carl,
That is something I heard as well from a SUN support guy a while ago. As of
NetBackup 7 Media and Master software is only supported on a 64-bit OS.
Personally I don't believe this is a bad thing. 64-bit OS'es are around for
quite some time now so it is time to adopt. What I

Hello,
I have used the same syntax from 5.1-6.0MPX and never had a problem:
$ sudo /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmchange -h backup-host -api_eject -map any -res

Found the issue, if there is a single tape in your list that is not in the
robot, the eject will fail.

ckstehman, i may have missed it but what in ACSLS do you need that you have to
be at 6.5 or greater? we've been using ACSLS since NB 4.5
1. we use automatic here for both our sl8500 and powderhorn. in automatic
mode, you have less commands to run in ACSLS to enter and eject tapes.
2. we

So, I am expecting 4 VCB snapshot streams to the two tape drives.
CAP mode manual means that in order to enter tapes, you have to issue the ACSLS
enter capid command to put the CAP in unlocked mode so that you can enter

CAP mode automatic means you don't have to issue the ACSLS command, that the
CAP at rest is unlocked. This setting is more
I now understand that the 64 bit requirement is only for Sun systems.

Hello list,
The data center in which I work recently purchased a Spectra Logic
T380 and T200 tape library running IBM LTO-4 tape drives for our local

Guys i'm upgrading existing backup infrastructure by introducing a new
server and upgrading NBU to 6.5.4 on Solaris.
I've then got to install and configure MSEO 6.1 so we can encrypt some
database backups.
I've been reading through all the pdf's and its just a bit of a minefield.
Is there any
I'm having a problem with the SAN Client on RHEL5 x64, has anyone on the
list got this working? I've managed to get it to work on Solaris and AIX,
but on RHEL5 it cannot find the devices.
The OS is great, it finds the ARCHIVE Python devices as soon as they are
zoned in, creates the 'sg'
One thing I found that is helpful on our ACSLS is this command:
cmd_proc_shell - allows you to run acsls commands in a shell script.
So for example, this will dismount all drives from one LSM ( I have separate
scripts so I can be particular )
# cat dismount.all.0.ksh
#!/usr/bin/ksh

Just got back from a Disaster Recovery Exercise at Sungard in Philly.
What we discovered is:
Full Catalog backup does NOT backup /usr/openv/db but DOES backup
I just checked by catalog tape ( I always do fulls)
And I do find /usr/openv/netbackup/db on the tape listing class and
images and other items.
So I checked the catalog config and see in the file list that I specify
the catalog to backup that dir.

Judy,
Do you show anything under /usr/openv/netbackup/volmgr/database?
I don't show a single file or directory under that directory.
The only thing that spurred this was when we were at DR last week and the media
pools were not there after the catalog import.
I wish there was a way to post a
