Re: [Veritas-bu] using a network location to store backups
Did you select Follow NFS option in policy's attributes tab, after mapping the remote location as a network drive. Please be gentle. [quote=NBUser]Did you select Follow NFS option in policy's attributes tab, after mapping the remote location as a network drive. That's the thing, I don't see where to add the network drive or the smb share inside veritas as a location available for backups. The media / storage locations only allow mounted physical disks. +-- |This was sent by bew...@gmail.com via Backup Central. |Forward SPAM to ab...@backupcentral.com. +-- ___ Veritas-bu maillist - Veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu http://mailman.eng.auburn.edu/mailman/listinfo/veritas-bu
Re: [Veritas-bu] using a network location to store backups
It is not possible to use a CIFS share as the catalog as your initial post requested. It is, however, possible to send backups to a CIFS share. Three things are needed to do this. 1. A Windows Media Server 2. Change the 'NetBackup Client Service' and 'NetBackup Remote Manager and Monitor Service' services on that Media Server to run as a DOMAIN\user account 3. Define your storage unit as Basic Disk and specify the CIFS share as \\server\share or \\server\share\subdir -daniel -Original Message- From: veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu [mailto:veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu] On Behalf Of steeb Sent: Tuesday, January 04, 2011 5:59 AM To: VERITAS-BU@MAILMAN.ENG.AUBURN.EDU Subject: [Veritas-bu] using a network location to store backups [quote=NBUser]Did you select Follow NFS option in policy's attributes tab, after mapping the remote location as a network drive. Symantec has not released the FA yet. In fact they have not announce it. Probably they will, within this month. stef -Original Message- From: veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu [mailto:veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu] On Behalf Of Justin Piszcz Sent: Tuesday, January 04, 2011 12:36 PM To: veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu Subject: [Veritas-bu] NetBackup 7.1 Hi, Is anyone using it? Re: [Veritas-bu] NetBackup 7.1
Hi, Yes but there are some good features here: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=contentid=TECH143890key=15143actp=LIST There is also an option to open a case on 7.1. I wonder who is testing it? :) Justin. On Tue, 4 Jan 2011, smpt wrote: Symantec has not released the FA yet. In fact they have not announce it.
