I did had same issue with windows2008 servers. You can do this to test :
Restore system state to any temp location like D:\Tmp.
and you will be be able to find all exe's under same folders
Try and check it serves the purpose.

Yes, I done this and was able to verify this.
It is annoying you have to restore the containers, rather than the
seperate file and folders though, as I may not want to restore the
Registry or Windows files :-((
