[Veritas-bu] NBU not seeing tape in tape drive

2011-05-11 Thread BlueChris69
Hi, I have an issue where i'm on a dark site trying to get Netbackup 7 ready for a DR test. I have a server with Windows 2003 R2 and a directly SCSi attached LTO4 tape drive. The drive can be seen in Device Manager and the driver is installed. I installed NBU7, started it and straight away NBU

Why are you trying to import the tape? If it is a catalog backup you should be recovering it, I believe. It has been a while since I've had to do this so my knowledge is a little rusty. Regards,   Patrick Whelan VERITAS Certified NetBackup Support Engineer for UNIX. VERITAS Certified NetBackup

Hi, Why don't to give the Catalog Recovery Wizard a try? This wizard will ask you for the DR file and recover required databases from the tape. WBR, Mikhail -Original Message- From: BlueChris69 nbu-fo...@backupcentral.com Sender: veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu Date: Wed, 11

If I run the wizard it comes up with a very long bprecover error which doesn't really point to anything particular. Don't get me wrong, i have done other DRs and it's always been straight forward but this one is weird. I agree shouldn't have to import the tape but it's the last thing i tried as

If you do an import on a piece of media that is already recognized, you will get an error saying it's already there and/or the images that it found are already there. You won't get the error you are reporting, this sounds more hardware/configuraiton related, to me. Try running the device

[Veritas-bu] REQUIRED_INTERFACE, anyone using private backup networks?

2011-05-11 Thread deasnutz
Anybody have working experience on the require_network or required_interface functionality? Our clients/media servers have a private network to traverse. Master is not connected (different site) however...v7.1. Thanks! +--

I've never liked REQUIRED_INTERFACE as it seems to be problematic. Perhaps it's just me. Most of our NBU servers have at least 3 networks (backup network, mgmt network and metadata/intra-nbu network). We use multiple host file entries with the different interface names and corresponding
