Can't you just use /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpbackupdb -dpath path to store backup and wrap that in a script. Its what i do daily to create catalogue backups to disk and then i automatically transfer these to a DR site. There is no need to stop Netbackup during this backup either.
