Well I backup sql2005 as a cluster.
Agent is installed on 2 nodes, backup configured as a Virtual Name.
I basically followed the sql agent documentation and through trial and error
got it working, using Windows authentication (once the account was
configured within sql to allow backups

Well this should work, because it sounds almost identical to what my file
based cluster setup was (NBU software was installed as PHYSICAL name,
storage unit was Physical name, but policy was the virtual name!)

Each tape will be different depending on what media is written to! Media
Lists I think may show you what is written to the tape But Netbackup
will only chuck data onto the tape until it sees it is full

I can get away with a stop / restart of the NetBackup Client Service -
however on 3 occasions I have had to perform a reboot after a maintenance
pack!
For VSP to be working, I think the software asks you to reboot, but again,

Well there is no tool, but planning, design, documentation, scope, ect is
your key to this !
Also, do your own research - what is good for one setup, may not be suitable

If the firmware has been done, then that is most likely all of your
troubles! I certainly have been down this road before, and took ages to
finally resolve, but it was a case of reconfiguring all the drives again,
and in fact updating the firmware for not just the drives, but the robot as

Unless you are going to cluster NBU, standard should be sufficient. Make
sure your hardware specs are suited to the OS (is: if you have more than 4GB
of RAM then Enterprise will be required).
