One of the reasons I want to consolidate the backup environments is to
centralize backups. I have one environment that has about 30 servers and the
other that has around 200.
The biggest reason that we have the large ammount of images is the breaking up
the servers into smaller streams to try
I know Symantec does not recommend a catalog to be larger than 500GB. I am
really trying to centralize my backup environment and make things a lot more
administratively friendly.
I basically have 2 backup environments right now my main one having a catalog
of 660GB and a smaller one with a

I have the need to write certain data to only specific tapes. Those tapes are
designated by a two digit code at the front of the tape. I have policies that I
need to write
I have 72 drives spread across 12 libraries (dont ask I inherited it) but these
jobs are to big to just allow a couple drives to them. I would still need to be
able to use these drives for other jobs as we have a very tight window to
obtain our full backups.

I have had the pitfalls of using MSEO and I can tell you that it is a bad idea
for LTO4 drive. The impact on backups was the standard 15-20% and that was
something I could easily deal with. The problem stemmed from the restore side.
I was seeing restores move to a crawl. To give you some kind
