I just completed another upgrade from 5.1 to 6.5 and ran into another issue with getting the Java GUI Console to operate. I ended up adding the FQDN as an alias to the shortname in my hosts file and the problem went away. I would also recommend this as a first step for any issues you have with

[Veritas-bu] Java GUI to Manage Windows - Strange Behavior

I'm trying to utilize a Java GUI to manage a Windows 6.5.3 environment. When the auth.conf file is present, and having proper name entries, I get an error that the username is not listed. If I remove/rename the file, the Java Console loads everything and seems just fine, as long as I'm using a

Anyone know if the java gui on unix transmits the password via clear txt or is it encrypted somewhere? What i mean is from me launching a local gui on my admin box and connecting through to the remote netbackup server on ports 13722 13724 is the root password sent clear text? Thanks Dave
