Thanks for your help.
It is said in NetBackup Administrator's Guide vol 1:
NetBackup can import backups that have expired, backups from another
NetBackup server, or backups written by Backup Exec for Windows.
(Supports Backup Exec versions 7.0 through 9.1.)
What if I use Backup Exec
We do our NetApp backups (old GF940 metro cluster) with a combination of

The data size isn't huge compared to some (6.5TB, ~40M files), but we've had

Have you checked the system log for NTFS corruption? I would run a
chkdsk /f S: just to be sure. Careful though, it will knock the drive
offline while the chkdsk is running.

We're running 6.5.5, and use a similar command from within a script, and it
works fine. Here's whats in our script:
$VMCHANGE -vh $volumeHost -res -m $tape -mt $thisMT -rn $robotNumber -rh
$robotHost -rt none -e -sec 1
Looks like the big difference is that we specify the -rn and -rh. I've
You can have 1 key per volume pool.
So on 6.5.5 you can encrypt 2 pools.
You can have different encryption keys for each pool. So I have 2 different
key tags depending on which pool the tape belongs to.
In 7.0 you can have 20 pools, but again you can only have 1 active key per
volume pool.
FYI... I have heard that there is an Engineering Binary that your can
request from Symantec to give you more encrypted pools on 6.5.x.

Interesting. Since NetBackup doesn't need anything but bptm and an
LTO4 to do KMS, do you know if your library somehow blocks that
process if that app managed crypto isn't turned on?
It's my understanding that the keytags

What I think they are going for is the fact that tiviloi can have a bunch of
keys and does a kind of round robbin with them so all the tapes do not have the
same encrypted key
That is a difference between kms - with NB kms if you have the key to that pool
then you have the key to all the tapes
