 Hi Stoyan,

   Do the notifier* logs in /var/VRTSvcs/log indicate any
   delivery errors?

   If Information messages are being received by the recipient,
   messages for other severities should also be received.

   The following steps may help to isolate what's happening :

   a) Offline the NotifierMngr resource

   b) Issue haclus -notes to verify that a message of severity
   other than Information is indeed queued for notifier

   c) Online the NotifierMngr resource.

   Check the notifier* logs/recipient mailbox for non-delivery/delivery.

 Regards,
 Sameer

  Subject: [Veritas-ha] NotifierMngr not behaving as i expect

  hello all,

  i have configured the NotifierMngr agent on a two node cluster - running
  VCS 4.1 on hp-ux 11.23 (PA-RISC), however it is not behaving quite as i
  expect.

  the configuration includes the following:

  group VCS_Notifier (
   SystemList  { somesystem0  0, somesystem1  1 }
   AutoStartList  { somesystem0, somesystem1 }
   )

   NotifierMngr VCS_Notifier_Mngr (
   SnmpConsoles  { dummysnmpserver  Information }
   SmtpServer  mysmtpserver
   SmtpRecipients  { [EMAIL PROTECTED]  Information }
   )

   Proxy VCS_Notifier_NIC_PROXY (
   TargetResName  MultiNICA
   )

   VCS_Notifier_Mngr requires VCS_Notifier_NIC_PROXY

  MultiNICA is configured in a different service group.

  my problem is that only messages with Information severity level get
  sent to the specified mail account.
  according to the Bundled Agents Reference Guide Specifying a given
  severity level for messages indicates that all messages of equal or
  higher severity are received... meaning i should get messages for
  severity levels: Information, Warning, Error, and SevereError.

  any help will be greatly appreciated.

  greetings,

  Stoyan Angelov

hello Sameer,

thank you for your answer. i have checked both notifier-err_A.log and
notifier-out_A.log logs and there are no errors. as you suggested i
offlined the NotifierMngr resource and issued haclus -notes. there are
only messages with message severity: Information queued.
i purposely switched one service group just to generate messages in the
log - the /var/VRTSvcs/log/engine_A.log log shows messages with Notice
and Warning severity, however haclus -notes will not show these.
onlining the NotifierMngr delivered all queued messages - no errors in
the logs.
i also tried changing the severity level in the configuration and i
start getting the messages for the newly specified severity, but no
other messages (for higher severity levels).

greetings,

Stoyan
