OK OK guysjust relax a little. The world hasn't collapsed...yet. I apologise for any issues that may have arisen BUT I have been out of touch with EVERYONE because... 1. my computer is Dell crap. 2. I have been pulling 110+ hour weeks for a couple months now 3. my flies were mailed from Bali by a wife who forgot to mail them before heading overseas. It has been a month now but if you think the mail is a problem, you should try making a phone calll. I can do nothing about the slow mail, but you should decide what to do. That being said, and whilst there can be no excuse for not mailing flies or keeping in contact, there is no need for a blackballing anyone. We are not communist hunters. I think that I have been fairly consistent over the previous 5 years in terms of swaps, having completed over a dozen or so. I think it is the same of most people on the list. I think only once my flies didn't make it, but things cannot always be controlled. I hope that I can become involved with this list again as I once was. I will probably head towards something like Simms with the wading boots(name slipped my mind) with soles that may be swapped. Way to go. Our Reno VA is stalling on starting a Chapter here BUT they are opening a clinic in Susanville and I am on the Volunteer roll there for PHWFF. Just mailed in 200 flys to the East Coast Chapter and 200 to the west coast Chapter plus lots of feathers, chennile, braid, mylar tubing, glass beads etc. Hooks are needed by both chapters. If you want, I will send you their addresses. I have been down for the last couple weeks due to anemia from the chemo (the VA doesn't call it chemo but six horse pills an day and a weekly injection that makes you feel like hell; sure feels like it) they have me going thru. The VA FINALLY gave me some new meds to inject myself with and -- my energy is slowly returning. $500 bucks a shot! So it had better work. My virus is below 350 and thats from 37 million. Weight is at 170 (Four years ago I was at 280). Went bowling last night and had two good games (193 and 182) then just pooped out with a 132. Now to find me a fishing partner (VA will not let me drive as I fall asleep too easily) that will drive and I can start using the Artic Fox mini-jigs I have been tying lately. [VFB] A Poem for You Weird fly tyers
Speaking of weird, which was generated by rick's quote yesterday, I guess I'm the weird one. If my poem also describes you, then you're definitely weird too. Have a good evening. JIMMY D A FLY TYING FANATIC ! Cotton balls, wine corks, tow sacks, I save'em all. Craft beads, sparkle rope, doll's eyes, I'm walkin tall. Mosquito net, you bet! And it's already green, don't have to dye it. Just try it. You'll see what I mean. Sewing thread, parrot feathers, and purple yarn. I'll use most anything, and don't really give a darn. Closed cell foam and balsa wood. Anything goes. Why I've even used the lint from between my toes. Candle wax, bee's wax, ear wax, I use'em all. Soda straws, model paint bought at the Mall. Javalina hair belly hair from an Armadillo. Why I even use eider down from my pillow. Longhorn tail hair, my hair and hair from my cats. I'll even use belly hair from a free-tailed bat. Black Visqueen sure makes good beetle backs. Cut'em out, glue'em on, hang'em on the rack. Thus is the life of a fly-tying fanatic. Could I use the fiberglass insulation from my attic? I throw away nuthin. I keep all kinds of stuff. With my kind of fly-tying, there's never enough! By JIMMY D.
