I'm glad that you got out and enjoyed life with a bit of fishing mixed in. I
myself am away on a fishing trip, but the weather since I arrived has been very
wet and unseasonally cool but after spending all day Saturday in my little
trailer the weather improved  and although still somewhat damp (drizzle) I did
manage to get out this morning (Sun) and mmanaged to catch 9 rainbows. As luck
would have it the biggest was somewhere between 21/2 to 3 pounds but was dark
(Spawner). The rest were smaller but still a good 18 - 19 inches and silver
bright. All were taken on a grey bodied chironomid with black wire ribbing size
12 & 14. I have just finished a belated lunch and plan to go out again . The
weather is improving with a weak sunny spells.

Gorgeous day here in Indiana.  Took an Arborist friend from Indpls down
to the southern part of the county to an orchard he'd never heard of
which is owned by a friend who used to work with me.  He was VERY
impressed.  She has over 7,000 apple trees, plus peaches, strawberries,
raspberries, etc.  We found her in the greenhouse and ended up buying
some plants.  I mentioned we were going over to a DNR site to try to
tease a fish or
two.  She said, "These two ponds over there (pointing)
have a ton of fish if you'd like to fish here.  But."  I spoke up
and said, "We're strictly catch and release."  She said good.

We caught a ton of fish.  The ONLY fly that worked well I'll have to
call the Ziegerbug. It's a bug that Rick Zieger sent me.  Rick's bug has
speckled rubber legs.  I didn't have any, so I tied some of them with
solid rubber that I had marked with a Sharpie. It looks like most of the
Sharpie wore off after catching so many bluegills.  (1st attachment)  I
don't know what Rick tied the body with, but I used black ice dub body
with mallard feather tail and a duck-quill wing case.  Weight was 1/8"
brass bead on a size 10 94840
 hook.

I out-fished my buddy, but he took the cake with a 11+ inch bluegill.
Gorgeous fish.  (2nd attachment).  It looks kinda small in his hands,
but he is 6-10" tall and the rest of his body is proportional.  His
hands are huge.

It was good to actually feel the tug of a different fish on the OTHER
end of the rod again.
