Got a nice selection of material in today.   The boa yarn in my package makes
great warmwater flies.  The other red and black material makes great ant
bodies.  Wrap hackle around the center or parachute style.  I usually tie the
ants on size 14 or 16 dry fly hooks.

Folks: We have eight swappers in the materials swap, and it seems that is it,
although eight is a good number for this type swap. I’m reposting the list of
ppl, and the rules of the swap below. From now own, direct any questions or
comments to me OFF list. Materials are due to me on March 15th, which gives us
about 6 1/2 weeks, and since we don’t have to tie any flies then that should be
plenty of time. Thanks, Chuck

Get some of the little (or big) zip lock bags from Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or
any other craft stores that sell them. They are very cheap, as in about $2 a
pack at my Hobby Lobby. Put your material or materials in these bags, and make
SURE and put a paper or sticker with your name on it, so I know who sent me
what so I don't “short change” anybody inadvertently. Here’s the deal though.
You’ll need to send 10 different bags.

Take your materials and for example, if you have ten yards of chenille to swap,
cut it into ten equal lengths, and bag those up. If you have two or more
different materials you can or want to send in, you can put them each in
separate bags, or put all your materials in the same bag, but just like I said,
make SURE and label your bags with your name so I don’t short anybody or get
the materials all confused like I said earlier. And if, for example, you wish
to swap ten spools of thread, but don’t have ten spools of all black. If that’s
the case, you can send 5 each of two colors, or 10 of ten different colors, or
however you have to “mix and match it”

In this swap, Just send your materials in the normal envelope of box, but I
sill spring for the return envelopes as I may need huge ones, or I may need
small ones depending on how much stuff the swappers send in, how bulky it is
etc. I understand that some tiers have much more materials than others, but
whatever you wish to send is fine. The idea is that I may have a bunch of
hackles that are great hackles, but maybe I don’t use that particular color and
maybe you have materials that are fine, but may be exactly what others tie a
lot of etc. The minimum is one material per swapper, but send as much as you
can, or wish to send. Sorry for writing rule BOOK here, but I want everybody
to understand the rules before committing to signing up. Any questions just
email me.

Send materials to along with a cpl bucks as per usual to help cover return
postage. Like I said, I’ll buy the return packages after I get all the
materials and see which size I need to buy:

pack at my Hobby Lobby. Put your material or materials in these bags, and make
SURE and put a paper or sticker with your name on it, so I know who sent me
what so I don’t “short change” anybody inadvertently.

Folks: I am going to try and get a materials swap going. I need ten ppl in the
swap if possible. I have two so far, Allan Fish and Myself. Please read the
“rules” below carefully before signing up as this may or may not be how it was
done in previous materials swaps. Deadline to have the materials to have them
to me will be March 25th, which gives you over two months which should be
plenty of time as you don’t have to tie any flies unless you just wish to put
some with your materials as a “bonus”.

Get some of the little (or big) zip lock bags from Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or
any other craft stores that sell them. They are very cheap, as in about $2 a
pack at my Hobby Lobby. Put your material or materials in these bags, and make
SURE and put a paper or sticker with your name on it, so I know who sent me
what so I don’t “short change” anybody inadvertently. Here’s the deal though.

Subject: [VFB] Materials Swap

Sorry for writing rule BOOK here, but I want everybody to
understand the rules before committing to signing up. Any questions just email
me.
Send materials to along with a cpl bucks as per usual to help cover return
postage. Like I said, I’ll buy the return packages after I get all the
materials and see which size I need to buy:
