I believe that (and the two more within 20 feet of it) is a Concho River Snake. I'd 'of had to get a whole lot closer to tell for sure, and they are quick to bite.

The white bass is actually a bass. They cross it with Stripers to produce hybrids aka wipers. The black bass, in all its varieties, are actually sunfish.

That's a size 2 foam popper in the bass' mouth. I'd guess a little over two pounds.

Hi Jack:
Great pic of the snake – what type of snake is that one?
Re white bass – I wasn’t sure what a white bass is and so I googled it. Turns out that it is not in the sunfish family as the black bass aka smallmouth. Does that mean that the white bass is not a true bass? We only have a few large & smallmouth in this part of Canada and both were introduced.

The white bass run is over, the big bass are up in the shallows.

But be careful, we're not the only fishers out there.

Hi All;
Stuck behind a desk at work, besides weather not so great today. The days when weather has been good, I haven't been able to get some fishing in #$%&*.
Hoping to sneak out at lunch tomorrow.
Anybody doing any better????
Besides Rick Zieger, he always finds time to fish!
