Don,

Besides the other comments I made from the DVD (which I did not see on
here. Did they make it Don?) I wanted to also mention - your tying desk
looked like the model of organization. If and when I get back to the
mainland I hope to get something like that organized.

And Don's DVD taught me a lot of the little tricks that I didn't know.

I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone.

Re: [VFB] Rope Dubbing DVD

2009-12-02 Thread Anthony Spezio
Keith,
Like you, it came to an end too soon. I had been tying on and off for 20 years
and almost full tine the past 20 years but I have not seen this process done
that way. Don showed me a bit at the Sowbug several years ago but I really did
not have the time to take it in. I was too involved with the show.
Make it here in March and you might get to see this done in person.

thaingy arrived and I enjoyed 98% of it.The bit I didnt enjoy was the
music between scenes and the end. The end came too soon.
Its well put together, clear, good sound qaulity and picture qaulity
is fantastic too. Delivery service was pretty good too. ;-)
Many thanks Don
Best regards
Keith

PS
If you missed this then you missed a great job folks and you better

Re: [VFB] Rope Dubbing DVD

2009-12-02 Thread Don Ordes
Keith,
We tried to do something about the music, but that was the best
non-copyrighted stuff he had. (You aren't the only one with better taste in
tunes) Everything really good that I liked came with a royalty fee. Next
video I'm hiring a musician- probably a harmonicat blues dude.

You can see that I didn't waste any time on the DVD, and yet I still didn't
get a half-dozen sequences in that I planned, and some other things. I
planned it to be a start/stop/try-it-out format. That's why there's DVD #2
coming if I can get in the black $-wise on this one.

You can also see the value in investing in professionals. I didn't want to
do a DVD if it was going to look like run-of-the-mill fly-tying videos. So
we spent time in planning the scenes, videoing a rough draft from mustiple
angles, and then re-videoing with the bugs worked out. Then we sat in front
of the editing program for many hours putting scenes together. When I was
satisfied, I felt others would be satisfied.

It won't take so long next time, as my learning curve has flattened out. It
will still take a lot of work, but it will be efficient work.

What I'm hoping to get now is photos posted of everyone's work. And then
when my website is finished, a page up to post them all with tier's names
and recipes.

Thanks for buying my DVD. Hope you enjoy rope-dubbing.

DonO
