A lot of videographers fail to understand how important sound is.  I bought a new Sony MiniDV camera which actually has great internal sound but no plug-in for a wireless mike or a mike with a wire.

I'd make sure that any camera I bought could take a mike input.  That way, you can always improve the sound.  Clip on zoom mikes, etc. just don't make the cut in my opinion.

Subject: RE: [videoblogging] Elevator Pitch Series: Technical and Asethetic Questions

I have a technical/asethetic question.

I am shooting video with a Cannon digital elph - powershot sd300.  Cheap, low cost video.  I can't zoom the lens, etc. though this would spark creativity.

What I'm noticing with interviews is that the built-in mike sounds like shit  ...
Any suggestions?

Now, if I were to take a slight step up in cameras - to get a better mike and to be able to zoom -- what would you suggest that is still in the lower end?

Also, along the same lines -- I'm using moviemaker and now that I have mastered it, I'm feeling limited. What is the next step up - not too expensive -- but gives me slight more features?  What about adobe preimere ELEMENTS?
