Not sure who asked for a tool that would encode for the ipod on mac,
but iSquint is teh bomb.
It'll do any QT format... and I think they were working on WMV though
it's been a while.
But it'll do any format that will open in QT and convert it to
either. mp4 or .m4v. It'll even res
mpeg streamclip does this rob. it's freeware. i tried it on a pc. still to test it on a mac.you can also do simple edits with it. and its a universal player as well. i was quite impressed by it, for what it is.

Am I missing something? Why can't you do this with iMovie itself? I'm pretty sure I did I did that last night. (I would have to check the source movie, but it was an mp4 quicktime, I think.)JS

Yes but with no control over it's parameters. They have a "Convert
Selection for iPod" option that just takes off and does something you
have no say on HOW. Note the missing "..." at the end of the command
indicating no dialog box with options will follow.
