I got a letter suggesting 3 programs that I thought I would mention -
Anim9tor - Corel's Cool 3D and Dollysoft.
I also found a 2D programt that was actually more of what I had in
mind - it's Toon Boom Studio. It's only $ 149 with an academic
discount, and it really looks good.

Ok that kind of 3D program. I can save you $149. Look into
CreaToon. It's a formerly commercial program that was development
has been discontinuedb ut is being offered as freeware. Also, check
Daz Production software offering.(They make Bryce3D, Strata, and
few a others I forgot)
