Re: [videoblogging] trying to figure out the best place to set up a blog for folks in Pine Ridge

2007-12-05 Thread David Meade
Hi Milt -

One thing to remember is that Blip.tv (and other hosting services)
can cross post to all sorts of blogs. So, for example, even if there
isn't a built 'include blip video' feature at blogger or wordpress.com
... blip.tv can cross post to those systems for you when you upload a
video there. Other services like Flickr can cross-post for you as
well.

I think my advice would be to pick the blogging solution that works
best for the project/users, and use a separate service (such as blip)
to host video/audio/images etc - allowing these hosting services to
cross post to your blogging solution of choice. In this case your
bloggers would have a few accounts one for their blog site, and at
least one for their media hosting service(s).

As an example: I post to my wordpress blog most times. However I
can upload a video to blip and it will automatically create a post ob
my wordpress blog for me. If I post a picture to flickr, I can have
it post to my blog site too.

Hope that helps,

- Dave

This is the desc. for mondays events

When : Mon Dec 10 (3-7pm)
Where : Roosevelt Hotel
Price : $40

Just a few years ago, most of us couldn't even imagine sending
digital videos to our technologically illiterate relatives. However,
with the advent of YouTube and other Luddite-proof platforms, online
videos are fast becoming a fixture in our lives. Today, Rocketboom
founder Andrew Baron, Alive in Baghdad's Brian Conley, Dina Kaplan of
Blip.tv, and a cadre of digital-media pioneers convene at the
Roosevelt Hotel to discuss the economic, social, cultural, and
creative possibilities of this brave new media — beyond scuba-diving
cats, that is.

And here's the link to the actual conference http://

[videoblogging] Interesting use of Political video

2007-12-05 Thread Jay dedman
Regardless of your political preference, here's a cool way to use video:
http://www.democrats.org/page/content/FlipperTV/

For months now, Democratic Party staffers have been tracking the
Republican presidential front runners as they travel across the
country, compiling a video library of candid moments as they campaign.
With FlipperTV, Americans can now watch and download this video, and
use the footage as they wish, putting raw material into the hands of
the American people to hold these candidates accountable for their
comments and actions.

I especially like this:

This video is released to the public domain. You may download and use
the video as you wish, with no restrictions.

They've uploaded long clips of appearances where you hear the
Republicans candidates talking to conservative crowds. Like a
politician of any stripe, their speeches are much more unguarded
speaking to their loyalists than when speaking to a general audience.
with this video, you could show what a candidate thinks.

Jay
