[videoblogging] Re: Most favorite vlogs

2006-04-07 Thread brookhinton
THE PAN is sublime. I'm a PAN pusher - I've gotten a few of my
students addicted (actually I was delighted to find one of my
students' videos for the Soft Pink TRuth on it!). I have trouble
keeping up so have to binge on back issues some days, but from the
start it had so much stuff I already loved (caveh! 50 foot wave! ebn!)
PLUS a great overview of vlog work. Just wonderful.

 Hello -
I noticed the thread on favorite vlogs going on and I wanted to take a
minute to explain a little more about The Public Address Network (aka
The PAN) , because it's a really good place to find new stuff to watch.
I started it because I wanted to see all of my favorite videos in one
place and I wanted to see them develop and bump into each other and
pretend that that's what tv actually is.. could be?
It's pretty much why I never have time to post here anymore.
I am totally obsessed with it, consumed.
You may even say in love.

Actually, what we are doing is quite simple
 Adam Quirk ( http://www.bullemhead.com )
and myself have teamed up with
some of the most amazing vlogger-artist-filmmakers and friends
 ( http://www.thepan.org/contributors/ )
 to create this daily videopodcast/videoblog.

Each day one of us pulls together a 15 min stream of videos from
anywhere.
Usually highlighting work from videoblogs as well as other video
makers who may not have a daily feed of content on their site.
We also include all kinds of video oddities and rare finds from the
 depths of the web.
We also make new things, just for The PAN audience!
And there is MUCH more to come!

So please, stop by, check out some links, leave us a comment or two.
feel free to take borrow of our signature promo videos from the
 library ( http://www.thepan.org/promos/)
and do with it what you will.

[videoblogging] a new member intro

2006-04-06 Thread brookhinton
Howdy.

I'm new. I vlog.

I have one video blog at present, only a couple of weeks old. It's
less personal than some of the marvelous stuff that's around, but
that's because it is kind of, well, by ghosts. The footage is all from
found home movies dating back from the 20's found in the basement of
the last member of a San Francisco society family after his death. The
footage is re-edited, processed and otherwise mediated (I'm an
experimental filmmaker in most of the rest of my life) though it feels
more, pardon the phrase, channeled from the people in it than anything
else.

I'm starting another vlog shortly that is more personal. Maybe more
than one. I'm finding so much wonderful stuff out there in the vlog
world and its very exciting.

Anyway, hi, check out the vlog if its of interest, and I look forward
to reading and communicating here.
