[videoblogging] DivX has gone web!!

2006-03-05 Thread chrlshogan
This week Divx has posted a web Player Plug-in the works in most
browsers it features 5.1 sourond sound, HD, full screen or windowed
with a right click auto save and more.

Also they have put up a HTML generator to write code to post DivX
files on your web page.

Another Item of importance to this group they have also posted a
webmasters SKD that has sample pages and code samples.

All Items can be found at DivX.com just try to play a DivX movie from
this site and your browser will ask you if you want the plug in
install the dll in your browsers plug in dir and restart.

I have be to about fifty web sites that are now using Divx files.
Another note Ourmedia has enabled the web player on a beta stage.

[videoblogging] amazing multilingual overlays on the soundtracks!!

2005-12-01 Thread chrlshogan
hey guys,

I wasn't reviewing some of my users work at our media, and spotted a
new use for soundtracks. The technique was developed by language
teacher in Oklahoma. He just posted one of these video blogs in our
media the other day. I think this would be a boon to international
business and may possibly become a standard for international video
blogging. Check it out.

http://www.ourmedia.org/node/109177

The way he does, this is amazing. It's like being able to hear and
understand both languages at the same time.

[videoblogging] The latest update on improvements at ourmedia.org

2005-11-26 Thread chrlshogan
You may have noticed that we ditched Drupal's built-in search tool for
search queries on Ourmedia. We found that the Drupal search was one of
the primary culprits in slowing down the site's performance.

Blogdigger came to the rescue with a site search that we're still
optimizing to ensure that all the content on Ourmedia is properly
indexed. We're still working on that with the Blogdigger team, as well
as planning to roll out enhanced search features to let anyone search
by media type, license and more

[videoblogging] looks like microslush is going to be mucking with rss

2005-11-04 Thread chrlshogan
Here in Windows, we're working hard on Windows Vista Beta 2, and we've
recently been doing some work on how we parse feeds.

Our years of experience in with HTML in Internet Explorer have taught
us the long-term pain that results from being too liberal with what
you accept from others. Hence, we've adopted the following overriding
principle for IE 7 and RSS platform in Windows Vista:

We will only support feeds that are well-formed XML.

This principle allows us to build a more predictable feed parser. As a
platform, it's important that applications using the platform to
consume feeds can rely on the fact that the platform will always be
providing information in the way that the publisher intended (trying
to guess what a publisher meant to do when there is an error in a feed
can be tricky, at best). We also spoke to several people in the RSS
and developer community at Gnomedex and at PDC, and they
wholeheartedly supported this.

When viewing a feed that doesn't validate as correct XML, IE7 will
flag it (and highlight the error, just like we do today for
generically bad XML feeds – so feed publishers can see what's going
on). When the platform downloads a feed with errors during regular
updates, it will discard that update, and will try again at the next
scheduled download (so feeds with temporary errors won't be
permanently affected).

That said, we do recognize that there is a great deal of variance in
the actual content of RSS feeds, so we'll be more liberal when it
comes to what elements are required in a feed. We will post on exactly
how we're handling different feeds in a future post.

 Jack (preparing the goat meat)

we have way too many Latin American bloggers at ourmedia. I think
they also have about four or five groups. We have known one new group
is educational, based in Brazil, and in impoverished area of their
country. The kids have already put up a pod cast in their native
language Portuguese.

Also, Chile just got some major initiative going, they had some major
big names underwriting them. Names like IBM, ATT Microsoft and a
bunch of others. Check it out.

Oh by the way, our media discussed their servers upgraded. The other
day, so the system is stabilizing

It gets tiring reading about everyone's hopes to cash in on
vlogging.
The funny part is that 99% of us will never see a dime from our
vlogs. Most of us don't vlog for the hope of money, and all of us
agree that it would be a nice to get paid. The fact is that this
just
isn't reality, especially since most of us don't get shit for
traffic.

I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but someone has to crush
the
 dream.
I wouldn't say that. You first have to look at what you have and where
it will fit into the market place before you can build a working
business model.Add rss to the mix and the posabilties are endless.I
Can't tell you what I am doing, but we are looking into setting up a
public company for one venture I have in mind.
right now if you are thinking of vlogging for hire you have the wrong
mindset.
think more about what type of marketing co. can I create that uses rss
(video)
