Yes. What is the problem you're having? Feel free to contact me off list. On 5/21/07, Ron Watson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Anyone have any luck working with Darwin Streaming Server? Anyone have any info or experience with DSS? used to run it off an apple os x server some time ago, but no longer. This is not quite Darwin. but for videoblogging would not recommend RTSP *at all*. RTSP is for real time broadcasting, so unless your project is justin.tv or similar, it ins't worth it: 1. 2 minutes of video is sent for 2 minutes 2. irrespective of packet loss 3. so if 25% data loss then video will be crap 4. it will drop frames (first rule to maintain data flow) 5. and usually then loses sync 6. you have no control at the user end - if someone requests your content on a modem they will get 2 minutes of not much data and a very bad experience as i said, if broadcasting live use it, that's what it's for. for videoblogging where you are delivering stored video, http or ftp much better as it resends lost packets so your material will arrive in the condition/state you made it. -- cheers Adrian Miles this email is bloggable [ ] ask first [ ] private [x] vogmae.net.au
Re: [videoblogging] Darwin Streaming Server...
Yup, I'm looking to stream live. We goto quite a few discdog events and I'd like to be able to broadcast some of the event live. I think that would be super cool. I've never been a user of DSS, so I have no experience with the video quality. I also don't know how many users I can support. I am also curious as to how/where I can upload to support more users concurrently. Thanks for the response, Adrian.
