Recently, I received footage from a Sony HDCam. I need to edit it,
but my Avid Liquid Edition Pro doesn't appear to like the footage.
The audio has an electronic-like stutter and the video displays as if
the time syncing has been lost and has occasional pixelated streaks.

If you don't mind using a free program, VirtualDub is very good
and handles all resolutions. But you can't do a few of the fancier
things like fades and transitions.
