Re: [videoblogging] MacWorld SF (was Vlogger Interview Ticklist / Vlog Press Kit)

2005-08-03 Thread Steve Garfield

Any reason why this is a pdf?

If you want people to help edit and contribute, it might be better off
as a page on a Wiki...

Also, If we are planning a vloggercon for 2006, in January, how about
something concurrent/before/after Macworld San Francisco, January 9-13,
2006?

There are a lot of great reasons for this:

1. It's warm
2. No snow
3. There will be a huge audience of mac users who already have many of
the tools to join in and start videoblogging
4. Lots of us might be planning on going to Macworld already. ( anyone
planning to go?)
5. We might be able to join in with some Final Cut Pro programs and
events. ( I've already been asked to help out )

So how do people feel about this?

It's not precisely *warm*, but it doesn't usually drop below 55, and
at least it's pretty (the roses are in bloom in January around here).

By the way, the same can be said for San Francisco in July ;)

I agree with this. While I think the Apple Store presentations provide
a great venue (there aren't very many retail stores with theaters in
them), I'm not sure that I think an event like Vloggercon should be so
tied to one vendor.

Apple is cool, and many of us are Apple users, but there are many more
Windows users who will be left out of the party.

Apple should be coming to our conference, not the other way around
(this is not an exaggeration).

 Hey all,

Is it just me or is the videoblogging group sucking a tad too much up to Apple?

I know Apple is hot, really hot, and Macs are Steve's gift to the
world, but still I am worried about linking videoblogging too closely
up to one platform and one set of tools like Final Cut Pro or so.

Regardless of what the Mac users like to think, Mac is not the centre
of the computing world. In my opinion it would be equally silly to
place the 06 vloggercon at some microsoft event...

That's just my opinion though, and yes, I am using a windows PC with
XP installed. I belong to the unwashed masses.

 Best, :)

Mac users are vocal supporters of their hardware and software.

Last quarter Apple represented 4.5% of total US computer shipments.
