Re: [videoblogging] Two New Versions of Miro: Sliced by Genre

2008-03-05 Thread Sull
Would make more sense if Miro could load a Theme that contained
pre-poulated channels. A Video Network Theme.

Seperate Downloads of Miro? That doesnt feel smart at all.

Though I will say that its a good approach to marketing miro and niche
content. It's just the technical approach that I dont agree with.

  Really interesting.

It would be cool if there was a way for people to somehow configure these
  download all by themselves.

For example… a community could maintain their own list of video blogs.
  (Using XOXO, OPML, or something.)

So… for example, if a community had a list of video blogs at:
  http://example.com/thelist/

Then you could configure the download using:
  http://getmiro.com/download?href=http://example.com/thelist/

  (Or something like that.)

  That would be really cool!

I understand what you are saying, Sull, but I think this is a great
gateway drug for newbies in the world of RSS.

I think about my mom who will love the food channel; but does Miro
cime preloaded with a video to teach how to find more feeds?

Re: [videoblogging] Two New Versions of Miro: Sliced by Genre

2008-03-05 Thread Sull
I do see that they have a convenient way to subscribe to multiple
channels via the miro website so i can subscribe to the food
channel and not download a new player.

Still, it could be simplified and enhanced with better co-branding by
using the concepts of player themes. would be slick if groups of
people could make mashup themes and let other download their channel
mix. Curation with style. Reminds me of my early nudges to Fireant
team about letting the feed dictate the look and feel of Fireant.

Then again, maybe this is possible and just not being exposed yet

I believe Adobe Media Player is doing this.
