Re: [videoblogging] Re: Video Podcasting - Gets No Journalistic Respect

Actually, Moscone Center (where Macworld is located this year) has
some draconian rules about video and their union, so I am not
surprised. I tried to contact their union last year about covering
LinuxWorld, and got no answer, not even a FOAD.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: Video Podcasting - Gets No Journalistic Respect

2006-01-10 Thread Kunga
I was able to video keynotes and any sessions at LinuxWorld which are
posted on my site and have been Video Podcast from the iTunes
listing. It wasn't about scooping the keynote which I don't care
about since Apple posts an excellent copy this afternoon. He barely
looked at the site. It was a predisposition to deny ANY Video
Podcasters - seemed like. Didn't matter there is also a site with a
lot of complementary reporting and analysis. Not famous or big enough
for them to care is my guess. So much for citizen journalism 2006
when it comes to some tech. But I can work around this limit since I
have to. It's the principle that bugs me. The same guy was happy to
have me for LinuxWorld Expo. But not in the church of Apple.

But on a return visit pleading my August award as among the best in
the world as reason to grant me an exception - not to mention my
history of always being press registered for the past 21 years (this
is the 22nd annual MacWorld SF since 1985), he said to come back
after the keynote and he'll see what he can do. But he said I still
wouldn't be able to use the press room to post stories.

So I'll be watching (text reports at http://www.macrumorslive.com/
web/ ) the keynote from my hotel room on this PowerBook, then walk
over and try to get at least a pass to take my gear into the expo
like I always have. Otherwise I will have to be confined to the User
Group Lounge where many luminaries present. Or use my small MPEG4
capable digital still camera in the expo.

This is weird.

That's horrible, Taylor. Did you bring all the necessary
documentation including examples of your work, etc.?
