Sorry folks this is gonna be a little long winded. While working my way through a bunch of magazines I was checking out Videomaker. For those that don't know it it is a "Pro-sumer" focus video magazine. It is designed for serious part-timers and professionals like wedding videographers, legal, and niche market video creators. The magazine gives good tutorials and overviews.
I was wondering when they would notice videoblogging, they have been strangely quiet about it until the November 2005 issue. Matt York is launching http://www.vidcaster.net I want to stress that he is a commercial publisher, not a blogger. He is marketing to a different group of folks. His focus and goal is to explore and make money off of the advantages and opportunities of web video or vidcasting. This is no different than what he does in his print publication. The people he is targeting may or may not have blogs or videoblogs. They may or may not have web sites. The weird thing about this is that he is explaining the process of videoblogging w/o saying the words "blogging or videoblogging". Yet on the site he has a glossary that uses the exact same words as we use, on the What Is page he certainly is harvesting Wikipedia links (all except any citation to videoblogging) and he does mention Freevlog, OurMedia, and Videoblogs. I dunno. This is how the world works. I should know this by now. It bothers me. Not that he is doing it but he feels the need to create his own world by harvesting knowledge without attribution. Or saying the other exist but "this is my path". <sigh> Going to class now. Gena http://outonthestoop.blogspot.com ------------------------ Yahoo!
