It's true. blip.tv will never start charging for what has already been
uploaded! When we go down the "pro accounts" road, the threshold will
be on the amount of content uploaded per month, and not on the amount
already sitting on our servers.

Re: [videoblogging] Ourmedia status (was: Weird OurMedia.org error message:)

2005-10-23 Thread Richard Show

I have been vlogging for about 4 months now and used a PC for the first
3 or so, and I've used .mov from the beginning. One thing that helped
me a lot was the $30 for quick time pro where I could compress
according to the specifications at freevlog and it worked quite well.
(I'd edit in something like premier, make a giant .avi file, and
compress it with qt pro). I haven't had any problems playing .mov on
the PC, except with a few people who were using that new codec that
wasn't available in the PC version, but most didn't do that; and
it's available on the new PC version anyway.

The only other issue I've had (and still have) is that PC users (e.g.,
family members) can't get my videos to play, probably because they
don't want to download quicktime. This actually would be a bigger issue
if there were zillions of people downloading my videos (which there
aren't :), but will be an issue for really popular sites in that many
non-technologically savvy people, don't really understand the whole
download plug in thing, so they won't be able to play .mov files.
