Yes and No...

They may want to do the Adam Curry thing with video as well.
So you'll get Madonna. But they'll add a 'video podcasting' focus to the
podcast directory..

Of course prophecy is a fools game...

Re: [videoblogging] Video iPod in 13 hours?

2005-10-12 Thread Mat Wall-Smith
Probably misunderstanding as I was lazy in not explaining completely.
RB is innovative in format, content, production...etc. But there is a
subtlety and depth to that innovation - you write with the medium and it
never seems the other way round. I didn't really mean 'follows' in terms of
your intent. Having watched the show from the very early days I know that
this has never been your modus operandi. I would still suggest that the
shows potential lies in the fact that the format plays on/off a mode that
most viewers will recognize and feel comfortable with - so my interpretation
is not that you pander to some normative standard but that the viewer will
most likely adopt a format that they feel some familiarity with, and perhaps
this also evokes a kind of confidence in the RB voice as well. The fact that
RB play so intelligently off that format is (in my opinion) what makes it
work so wellit marks video blogging as a departure from the normative..

I hope this makes sense as I really did not intend to diss the RB team.
I've RB in both writing and production classes and see it as an important
innovator in the 'field'.this seems like a paradox but I don't think it
is..

Sorry Taylor..everyone here is great...just think that Rocketboom has a
nicely packaged commercially viable 'product' with a good length, a good
download size, that follows the 'theory of minimum innovation'- this is what
what I mean by reliable -- as well as that the program has been running for
a substantial period daily without a major shift in format...and there
subscription rate was (at least when last reported) pretty impressive.

I don't want more laughs and less lengthbut apple probably will! In fact
chances are they'll want mostly eye candy and RB as Andrew has intimated are
probably still too left of field/engaged for them. I still recall that great
post where Amanda came upon a family that had allegedly been mistreated by
police - Apple can't rotoscope that!

I've probably offended RB as well now...sorry to all...

Well you've all got me wondering enough for me to go over there and
make a cold call on Apple's PR in the Lobby as to why they never
return my calls nor answer my emails. I am sick and tired of being
ignored by them. It should make for some interesting video even if I
am rejected at the door. I live only 32 miles from the site of
today's event. So I will go in hopes of making a breakthrough with
Apple PR since I can't get any closer to them in person than the $6
round trip in gas from here. I'm real familiar with the neighborhood
and know where I can park for free nearby the site - California
Theatre, 345 South 1st St San Jose. It's a beautiful place.

 Amazing architecture circa 1927
completely restored to mint condition. Like me. Wish me luck.

I tried to buy an 20 gig iPod as a gift last week. Couldn't get one.
No store here can get the current model of iPods from Apple. All orders are
pending and there is no word on when they will be available again (across
numerous stores).
To me it feels like the 'something else' is an iPod of one form or another.
No store has any information but they agreed that something was probably
pending as it was an unusual situation.

Apple will want to launch video on demand, a video server or a video capable
airport express video, and ipod video 'portability' in the same breath...
Steve said no-one wants to watch video on their iPODbut s-vhs out
defeats that.

I guess will soon see.

Josh Paul and I gave a videoblogging presentation tonight at the Apple
store in Santa Monica, CA.
Small crowd of about 10 or 12, but lots of fun.

No word there about video iPods, but it does appear that Apple is just
about to open a few more stores in our area.
That seems like quite a growth spurt actually.
I wonder how much that is happening elsewhere.

Re: [videoblogging] Video iPod in 13 hours?

2005-10-11 Thread Josh Leo

Alright I confessApple did ask me to be their video blog whore for
there presentation todayThey offered me a free ipod video, a .MAC
account, and a dinner with Steve Jobs. I promise not to forget all of
you who helped me get where I am today...

I am selling out, cashing in and embracing the fact that Josh Leo's
Vlog Will be up there in the ranks with other great video blogs in the
itunes video store such as CNN-vlog, ESPN-vlog, BBC-vlog, and sex with
some sexy woman XXX's vlog...that is right folks, all the video blogs
you know and love, right there in the itunes video store. I'm leaving
Rocketboom in my dust, I am in the big-leagues now!!!

What is your ‘circulation’ now?

"I have just heard through the grapevine that a popular video blog
has just been asked by Apple if their videocast can be used in
Apple’s presentation on Wednesday, Oct 12th."

Hey Andrew... was Rocketboom asked? Of course, you can't really
answer that question on a public list without facing the wrath of
Apple if it is indeed the case, but if so... that's awesome. If I was
Apple I would definitely introduce Videoblogging on the iPod with
Rocketboom...

I want an iPod with a high-quality microphone that can attach to an
iSight and record video. That's the perfect videoblogging tool.
