I agree that this would be a pretty overwhelming task considering the
level of traffic, and further, Yahoo! Groups' search functionality
leaves a lot to be desired.

Though I do say so myself, a great resource would be this list's
content as it is mirrored over at Google Groups:

http://groups.google.com/group/Videoblogging

The thoroughness and granularity of the search function there is
impressive.  I've used it several times to find URLs posted and other
things.

Maybe instead of a separate group for newbies, just a FAQ (isn't that
why it's called Frequently Asked Questions instead of Stupid
Questions?) or some kind of organization of messages that answer
questions. Today's stupid question is tomorrow's insight, no? Editing
the archives is a great idea, but might be an awful lot of work
considering the amount of traffic.

this group is for newbies.
all the extra talk that goes on is just waiting for you to ask how to
do something.

we have set up several sites thatw ere lisetd in the "welcome email"
and on the group's opneing paragraph.
http://freevlog.org is the best place to learn how to videolbog.
http://videoblogging.info has a lot of our more advanced tips we've discovered.
there is also a google group(who knows teh address?) that is archiving
these emails...which you could probably do a search on.

again, i encourage you or anyone new to shoot questions into the open.
like jan said, someone is probably wondering the same thing.
this is not a slashdot group that crushes "dumb questions".
videoblogging is barely a year old...and is far from obvious yet.

have you set up a blog yet?

Jay

This discussion comes up periodically. You want a newbie group? Start one :)

You want a more moderated group? Start one.

Simple as that :)
