An instructor wants to stream these for a class this summer-
Swank doesn't have them-does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance, for your c.w. (collective wisdom of course)

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering what your experience has been with discs from the Warner
Archive Collection. I have run by several titles from this series and all
of them appear to be DVD-Rs created on demand, which frankly is a concern
of mine for playability and lifespan of the discs. Are my
I hesitated at first based on common DVD-R playback issues of players when
the Warner Archive first appeared but we have seen those issues pretty much
disappear in newer players. So we have said damn the torpedoes. As
Jessica said you don't have much choice if you want/need the films.

PS at $20 a pop ( less if you wait for regular sales) it is not like you
are shelling out big bucks.
Michael if you wait for their regular 25% off sales it might be worth
paying tax. I would compare the Amazon and WB pricing as it seems Amazon
has far less sale pricing these days.

Knox County Public Library (Knoxville, TN) now has over 250 Warner Archive
titles in circulation dating back from around 2010 and we haven't had many
problems. We do occasionally resurface the discs using our RTI Eco-Senior or
Eco-Pro to keep them in good condition.

Hello Josh,
We have not run into any problems with the playability of the discs. We do
have to wait until the discs are listed on websites such as Amazon.com to
purchase them as the Warner website tries to charge us sales tax on orders. We
have never been able to resolve this problem with
Hello Jessica,
We cannot pay the tax. As a tax-exempt educational institution, any time that
we are charged sales tax, we have to make every effort to have the tax
refunded, regardless of the amount.

Hi Shannon,
I sympathize with the concept but WB is just not set up for that . Would
not be worth it to them and your rule costs money in the end as I am sure
the savings of ordering from them where stuff is nearly always on a good
sale is far more than the tax.
It reminds of a situation years ago where a
I'll second Chris's comments. We always preview any DVD-R's ordered for
the collection in full before adding them, and to my memory we haven't
had a single problem with the Warner Archive titles. We're much more
likely to have issues with the expensive educational docs from various
vendors.
Hello Jessica,
We have some vendors who, after we send them a copy of our tax-exemption
certificate, are able to set up our account to not charge sales tax. We
occasionally run into an Amazon marketplace vendor who tries to charge us sales
tax, even though Amzon.com does not. If this is not
Hi, just wanted to mention Midwest Tape carries some of the Warner's titles,
and also, you can put in a title request with them, if the title you want is
not in the database. And since they only sell to libraries, I don't think they
charge sales tax. Although I could be totally wrong.
Becky
Here at USC we have set up a plan where we automatically receive all new Warner
Archives releases. Occasionally there comes an absolute turkey of a movie, but
for the most part-it's all great, wonderful stuff.
Cheers!

Thank you for all of your insight on to this series! I will definitely be
scouring these titles to add to our collection. I had previously passed by
a good number of these titles but I'll have to circle back and draw up a
list for inclusion to our Library. Best regards.

I am assuming that is typo/mistake re John Brahm's BROKEN BLOSSOMS . He did
direct an obscure talkie remake in the UK in the 30s but it must be
referring to the Griffith.
