lorraine! According to WorldCat, 19 institutions in the United States have a
copy of the DVD which was released in 2010 by TVS Home Video, Margate
Entertainment. I assume that this is a legitimate distributor….

Cheers!

Subject: [Videolib] Deadline USA - where is it?!

Hi all,
Latest film I’m looking for, Deadline – USA. Bogart, 1952, Richard Brooks,
20th Fox.
What’s the deal? Why can’t I buy this in the US (or rent or whatever)? I can
purchase it in PAL Region 0, imported from Italy. Hmmm.
I know one of you knows what the deal is with this film – I believe something
was mentioned about Twentieth Century Fox earlier, but I cannot locate that
thread.
Thank you in advance for your time.

IMDB tells me that Milestone is the distributor, along with Target Films.
Dennis, is it you?
Target Films isn’t giving me any info on their page either.
Best I could find was blurb in NYT 2010 re New York School of Documentary Film,
film series, including Strange Victory.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks all,

lorraine

Sadly not all films come out on DVD. This one seems slightly high profile
not to have been released but overall Fox seems dead last in studios in
getting material out. There could be some underlying rights issue.

Thanks Anthony. I saw the Margate/TVS stuff earlier, and found it
questionable. I found this just googling, (blog:

his info comes from, but it seems true. Margate and TVS are both nowhere
to be found as potential distributors of this film.

The Turner Classic Movies Deadline U.S.A.
 pagehttp://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/72550/Deadline-U-S-A-/ has
cast lists, quotes, a full plot summary and viewer comments.

Margate Entertainment’s TVS Home Video came out with a DVD release in
2010, apparently based on a Fox Movie Channel version. It was available
through Amazon.com and TV4U.com, including an Amazon online-rental release,
but had been removed by fall 2012. For a while, the full movie also was
available on YouTube in an unauthorized upload.

I remain confused as to how to find this film! BUT the Worldcat listings
might offer me a chance to ILL the film for class. I’m sure there are very
convoluted reasons for why this film is hard to find and procure!

 Thanks all,

 lorraine

OK I can confirm it has never been legally released but there is no rights
issue. Hopefully it will come out one of these days.
