Hi there:
No matter which document I'm editing, whenever I search for a carriage
return like this:
/\r
I get the following error message:
E486: Pattern not found: \r
It's puzzling because Vim is matching other character classes like \t
and \n
;-)
Instructions for remapping Caps Lock differs based on your Operating
System/Terminal/Desktop Environment. Google should fetch it for you in
no time.

Correction, it should be
:%s/\.\{-}\//gn | nohlsearch
the set makes your hlsearch setting permanent

Your vim is running in vi-compatible mode. Fixing this should be as easy as
echo set compatible ~/.vimrc
~Matt
Shouldn't that be as follows?
echo set nocompatible ~/.vimrc

I have actually now restricted my mappings to only the command-line mode
(cnoremap), it generally being the most limited mode in Vim, IMO.

Note: this should only work on an X11 GUI. For xterm, refer to

bit), unfortunately you'll have to find another way.

Hi, as the title says, I want to Copy and paste to and from other

I've tried this, but it's not working as I expected:
vnoremap C-c y
vnoremap C-v p
nnoremap C-v ip
map! C-c y
map! C-v p
My OS is ubuntu, just in case
