I use the privoxy filter proxy for that and use the rules from easylist. Since
some weeks I complemented this by hosts blocking to block a whole domains that
are known to be evil like facebook.com.

The filter proxy works pretty nice in my setup and affects all my browsers, so
I don't need to manage the rules for different browser separate (even if I
nearly always use vimb). Privoxy does not only blockk adds, it's also capable
to filter content, if the page is not delivered as https.

Maybe take a look at Midori ? It uses
Webkit and appears to have a Adblock Plus module out of the box.

I don't know vimb too well, but either way there are ways you could
block ads cross-browser.

I've collected some possibilities at the bottom of [1] (under
point 8).

[vimb-users] Adblock?

2014-11-11 Thread Daniel Leech
Hello everybody,

Is there a best practice way for implementing adblocking with vimb?

f.e. to implement something similar to luakit:

https://github.com/mason-larobina/luakit/wiki/AdBlock-Lua-module

Cheers,

Dan
