Let me start over. My mistake. The phone is set to never lock. Passcode is set to use after 4 hours. So, if the phone is locked manually, and it stays locked more than four hours, the passcode is needed. Can it be changed to not need it if the phone is locked without turning it off? It's not

First, I think you meant 4 minutes, not 4 hours. If you have a phone with a home button, setup touch ID, and it will primarily ask for the passcode after you reboot it, but if you just lock it and come back later, the finger print will unlock it. If you have a phone with no home button, setup

Thanks for the replies. Since they want to use it with both an iPhone and an iPad 7, wired is not ideal. There may be a Surface keyboard that is bluetooth that could work, at three times the price of other non-ergonomic keyboards, but he'll probably just deal with a standard keyboard.
