Hi Laura,

When Voiceover is on there is currently no way to prevent it from switching
to Speakerphone if you move your phone away from your ear. Normally the
proximity sensor which triggers this behaviour works well, but I find that
in my replacement iPhone 4S which I received a couple of months ago due to a
camera problem with my old phone the proximity sensor also seems to be
either more sensitive or it simply acts up every now and then. With my old
phone I could easily hold the phone at least an inch or maybe 2 away from my
ear and nothing happened.

If your iPhone 5 is new and continuously switches between earpiece and
speakerphone without you moving the phone much I would just take it back to
Apple and get a replacement.

I also encourage everybody to write to accessibil...@apple.com and request
that the automatic switching to speakerphone can be toggled on or off. Since
this is not default behavior for people who don't use Voiceover I assume
this would not be too hard to implement and between now and the official
release of iOS 7 in 3 or so months I am sure the accessibility department
could do this.

Best regards,

Sieghard

Subject: problem with speaker phone

HI All,

I have an I-phone 5. When I am on a call my phone will change to speaker
phone if I move my hand at all. Any ideas how to stop this from happening?
Is there a way to turn speaker phone off so that it will not go to speaker
phone?

Thank you for any help,

Laura
