How do I add books to the BARD app using iTunes? I keep getting failures

You don't use iTunes. You go to the Bard website and add them to your wish
list, unless they are newer entries that you can browse directly from the
Bard app.

Open the Bard app on your phone. Open iTunes. Make sure the books you're
transferring are in the zip archive. And use the file sharing feature of iTunes.
