Whether you're a fly or not, your statement is simply inaccurate regarding
the Bose Mini Soundlink II speaker. Following Malcolm's instructions, my
Bose speaker did have the device type

automatically chooses to come through the Bluetooth speaker

If you want to access the setting to change whether Voiceover comes through
your Bluetooth speaker or not try the following:
On your iPhone, go into Settings.
Locate and double-tap Bluetooth.
It is best at this point that your speaker is turned off and therefore
disconnected.

I'm using an iPhone 8 with the latest IOS. Since updating, it seems
that VO automatically chooses to come through the Bluetooth speaker
(Bose Microlink, I think it's called) when it's connected. I can't
seem to find an option to route the audio so that VO's speech comes
through my iPhone
