I can't get reminders to work on my IPod touch Fourth Generation

Hello there folks. I can't get reminders to work on my IPod Touch. I have set up the reminder. And it says completed, five i go into the reminders and everything looks to be normal. But when i have it just sitting doing nothing, either in the home screen, or the screen is locked, it won't do
