Anything is possible with that case.
I was talking with a gentlemen a while ago and he told me that everyone he
spoke with said he sounded muffled on his iPhone.
He took the Lifeproof case off and, the problem went away.
Go with an otterbox case.
You can't go wrong.

mine did that off and on before the speakers went totally out and would only
work with headphones.
I have apple care and they replaced it but I lost all text and voice mails that
week due to A&\T&T when I changed over to new phone with my sim card.

Do you have other headphones you could test with? I had a pair once that
started to fail, producing distorted sound.
