I'd like to assist a blind iPhone user who is currently away from home

Hi, this sounds like an smtp blocking issue. Depending on the domain of
the email used, things might be blocked. You will need to go to Settings
Mail/Calendars/Contacts The email account in question, and into
advanced. Look at th smtp. It's usually a button. That takes you into
another page
