Hi all. On Saturday I asked this topic closed. I understand that many people reply to messages before reading the entire thread, but this has gone on long enough. Not only that, but the below message is a prime example of a message which should have been sent to the one person the message was replying to, not to the 1300 plus members.

If this is taken as a bit rudely on my part, so be it. However I did ask nicely once before.

I don't want to start moderating people's postings on the list.

Thank you.

I have several questions about the mac because my desktop and laptop is no
longer working properly. The are both several years old and I want to get
a good replacement. Do you have to put your music and audio on the mac
through itunes like you do with the iphone&ipad? That's really the only
thing I don't like about the i-devices. Are there any podcasts for
beginners using the mac, a q&a type thing? Will I be able to hook up usb
devices to the mac such as flash drives, usb hard drives, and such?
I'm on skype as kc4haf if anyone wants to add me to discuss some of this.
I'm thinking about getting one of the refurbished laptops withmac from
apple. thanks for any thoughts on this.

Hi Carol,

Well I use a Mac for nearly everything. THe only time I use WIndows is on
a VM at work and mainly because I need to ensure 100% compatibility for
Microsoft Word. If Microsoft would get its thumb out and make the Office
suite accessible I might not need Windows at all.
However, with that said I consider myself to be very efficient using the
Mac, but then I also have a good number of years experience. Therefore,
if you are willing to accept that there will be a learning curve and you
are prepared to put the time in, then you will do just fine. Remember the
effort it took to master the world of iOS. :)
THe best thing is you can always have both with the Mac. You can run the
Mac and WIndows for things that you really cannot live without. Hey you
can even run Linux on that VM if yo like. :)

Hi all,

The time is coming now to replace my current desktop and I'm thinking
about a Mac.

Seriously, though, can you really work as quickly when it comes to
editing docs?

What is out there that will work for database and word processing that
will give you the full functionality you expect?
