version was eight. As for a 32 GB model, no there's not one. It only has a 16

To answer your main question, yes, you can use iTunes to restore your iPhone 5
running iOS 7 backup to a new device running iOS 8. I did this very thing when
I got my new iPhone 6 in February. I restored the iTunes encrypted backup of my
iPhone 5 without any issues. The 5 was also
In the mean time, you might try recalibrating your iPhone 5's battery
sensor by completely running down the phone, plugging it in, turning it
on and letting it fully charge. You may need to do this a time or two.

For question 1, the answer is yes. When one restores from a back-up, the system
will place everything into the new iOS. If any apps are not accessible to the
new iOS, they will not work. That said, most apps do not have any problems.
Restoring onto a lower memory device will block certain apps
