I was aware of being able to turn off the download to other devices. I was just
kind of hoping that since I have iTunes match, maybe the song wouldn't download
to my phone. I want everything downloaded to my Mac, so I suppose that I just
need to buy the songs that I want there and

I don't have iTunes Match, but whenever I bought something it would always
download to the device from which I bought it. If you buy an app on your phone
It will download and the same goes for songs.
As for other devices, that you can control in Settings, iTunes and App Store on
any
