Facial will work in the dark, but whenever mine doesn't come right up, I just
punch my six-figure access code - have gotten pretty fast at doing that one.

Face recognition doesn't require any light, so you don't need to turn on a
light.
I have turned off attention mode. I just couldn't get the hang of it, and I was
finding it too fgrustrating. I bet you could get used to it though
I don't personally think face id is as fast as touch but it's not a lot of
difference with the newer chipsets.
