This is true when you're using POP. I don't think you have such an
option if you're using IMAP, although some people have said that on some
email servers you can set it up to automatically delete messagesfrom
your trash folder after a few days. I

Are you using IMAP or POP? Gmail supports both. If you're using IMAP

If your provider supports it, Imap has some real advantages over Pop3 access,
especially when you're using multiple devices to read your mail.
You have access to your full folder structure on all your devices. If you
delete a message on one device, it's deleted on them all, and conversely, if

If so, do you have the computer set to not leave a copy on the server?
